Intrepid Students Set Out on Silver DofE Expedition

Our adventurous DofE students are currently preparing for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition. To achieve their final award, students have completed two 6 month periods and one 3 month period of training across three disciplines and are now honing their orienteering skills ready for their final expedition.

The Oulton Academy students, led by Mr. Trower, will be venturing out to the Peak Distrtict for a 3 day, 2 night expedition to test their resilience, teamwork and leadership skills. Day 1 will see students having to make their way from Fairholmes to Ginsbrook Booth before setting up camp for the night. On the second day, the groups will navigate to Pinedale Farm before setting off on their final day and finishing at Ladybower Resivoir.

During their trip, students will be putting the navigation, camp set up and cooking skills they have been practicing, under the watchful eye of Mr. Trower, to the test. The groups will be responsible for their own packs, map reading, food and shelter during their journey through the Peaks.

We wish our adventurous DofE cohort the best of luck and look forward to hearing all about the expedition when they return!
