Training Day – Friday 13^th September – Open to Year 11 students

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week you were sent an email form Adrian Kneeshaw, CEO, Carlton Academy Trust, regarding the ongoing strike action by the NEU and the decision to move the planned teacher training day from Monday 4th November to Friday 13th September.

Having spent some time last week looking at the options to reduce the number of teaching days lost, with most teachers coming forward and volunteering to teach their Year 11 classes, I am now able to open the academy to Year 11 students on Friday 13^th September. Therefore, all Year 11 students will follow their normal timetable during the training day and will be provided with break and lunch catering service.

Regretfully, students on Year 7 – Year 10 will not be in school on this day, due to being unable to fully staff additional year groups; however, negotiations with NEU officers continue to take place in the hope that the future planned strike days are postponed.

I apologise on behalf of the Academy and Trust for the disruption to your child’s education and will continue to do everything possible to deliver the Outstanding quality of education to our student community that Oulton has become known for.
