Year 9 Options Evening at Oulton Academy: Guiding Students Towards Their Future
Tonight, Oulton Academy is hosting its highly anticipated Year 9 Options Evening, a key event designed to help students and their families make informed decisions about their GCSE pathways.
The evening provided an overview of the subjects available, offering students the chance to explore different courses and understand how their choices will shape their future opportunities. A highlight of the event was a presentation by Assistant Principal Mr. Houghton, who was able to break down the options process, explaining how students can select subjects that align with their interests, strengths, and future aspirations.
Principal Mr. John Higgins emphasised the importance of this event, stating:
"Choosing GCSE subjects is a pivotal moment in every student’s educational journey. Tonight’s event was about providing clear guidance and ensuring that students feel confident and supported in making these decisions."
In addition to the talk, subject teachers and careers advisors will be available to answer questions, offering expert advice on how different subjects can lead to further education and career pathways.
Oulton Academy is committed to supporting students at every stage of their educational journey. The evening is not just about selecting subjects—it’s about empowering students with knowledge and helping them take ownership of their learning. The Academy’s Careers Team will also be available to provide guidance on post-16 options, ensuring that GCSE choices align with long-term goals.
