Y9 Students Explore Future Climate Engineering at Leeds University

Leeds, UK – Year 9 science students from Oulton School recently attended an engaging and educational Future Climate Engineers science day at Leeds University. The event, designed to inspire the next generation of climate scientists, featured a series of interactive workshops and activities.

Throughout the day, students participated in a carousel of workshops, each focusing on different models that scientists use to understand and plan for climate change. These hands-on sessions provided the students with valuable insights into the complexities of climate science and the innovative methods used to address environmental challenges.

Building on the knowledge gained from these workshops, the students will now engage in a competition to design their own models aimed at combating flooding. This exciting challenge encourages creativity and critical thinking, as students apply their newfound understanding to develop practical solutions for real-world problems.

In addition to the workshops, the students had the opportunity to tour the Leeds University campus. This tour offered a glimpse into university life and the advanced facilities available to students pursuing higher education in science and engineering.

Oulton Academy extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Leeds University and the supporting businesses for making this day possible. Their dedication and support provided the students with an enriching and hands-on learning experience that will undoubtedly inspire many to pursue careers in climate science and engineering.
