Home visits and welfare checks

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the many families who have been supportive of Oulton Academy’s outreach programme. Your engagement makes a positive difference in the success of this initiative.

We want to take a moment to explain why we run this programme and provide some of the reasons why you see our staff and minibus out and about in our community:

  • Supporting the welfare of your child: Home visits are one way we can ensure that we are supporting the overall wellbeing of every student.
  • Helping with attendance: Visits help us collaborate with families to understand and overcome any challenges related to student attendance.
  • Addressing worries or concerns: We understand that parents and students may have worries, and home visits provide a supportive space to talk through these concerns. This can help us establish routines and boundaries in a comfortable and reassuring environment.
  • Building strong relationships: Our visits are a way of building and maintaining trust and respect between parents, students and the school. A positive partnership with you is essential to your child’s success.
  • Understanding your child’s needs: By visiting families at home, we can gain a better understanding of your child’s background and unique needs.
  • Ensuring safety and communication: If we are unable to contact parents or guardians, home visits help ensure that students are safe and that the school can continue to communicate effectively with families.
  • Supporting family needs: Home visits are also an opportunity to identify any additional support a family may need, such as housing assistance, mental health support, or access to other resources.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support and collaboration. Together, we can continue to work in the best interests of our students.

Your faithfully,

Attendance Team
