Year 8 Students Dive into Real-World Architecture with Industry Experts

An inspiring collaboration between education and industry is giving Year 8 students a unique opportunity to explore the world of architecture from the inside out.

This term, students are participating in an exciting hands-on project led by professionals from SPG Architects and Veronica Heaven of The Heaven Company. The initiative is designed to immerse students in every stage of architectural design and model making, offering them a rare chance to learn directly from experts across a range of roles within the field.

Each week, students attend sessions planned and facilitated by Veronica Heaven, whose expertise in creative project development is helping to guide and inspire the young participants. With support from SPG Architects, students are gaining valuable insights into the architectural process—from conceptual design to the technicalities of model construction.

The focus has been on collaboration and leadership, as students worked in teams to explore building materials, with a particular emphasis on sustainability. Through research, discussion, and creative problem-solving, students examined how environmentally friendly materials can shape the future of architecture.

The project not only builds technical knowledge but also nurtures essential skills such as teamwork, communication, and critical thinking—preparing students for future academic and career pathways.
