Creative Writing Stars Shine at Oulton Academy

Last term, Oulton Academy’s Creative Writing Club took a bold leap into the world of storytelling by entering a short story competition with a twist—reimagining classic fairy tales in wildly inventive ways. From a fashion-forward Little Red Riding Hood eyeing a new fur coat, to a Cinderella tale where the slipper fits the wrong woman, and even a dark investigative piece uncovering the murder of Jack by his sister Jill, the students’ creativity knew no bounds.

We’re thrilled to announce that all seven pupils who entered the competition have been published in the official anthology. Each young writer received a certificate and a specially designed bookmark to celebrate their achievement. A huge congratulations to everyone involved for their imagination, dedication, and flair!

In other literary news, our annual World Book Day story—a gripping murder mystery—was another resounding success. Every contributor to this collaborative tale has been rewarded with a Waterstone’s gift card in recognition of their hard work and storytelling talent.

Thank you to all our budding authors for making this term a celebration of creativity and narrative brilliance. We can’t wait to see what you write next!
