Year 7 Families Connect at Meet the Form Tutor Evening
On Tuesday evening, Oulton Academy proudly welcomed over 80 families from Year 7 forms 7.1 to 7.4 for the first of two Meet the Form Tutor events. The evening provided a warm and engaging opportunity for parents and carers to connect with their child’s form tutor, Learning Manager, and hear key updates from Vice Principal Matt Gumbley.
Held in the heart of the school, the event showcased Oulton Academy’s commitment to community engagement and its core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience. Families had the chance to learn more about the pastoral support available, the structure of Form Time, and the wider Personal Development curriculum that underpins the Year 7 experience.
Following the catch-up with Mr Gumbley, families were invited to stay and enjoy a relaxed supper of locally sourced butcher’s pies and peas, served by staff in the dining hall. This informal setting gave parents, carers and staff a chance to continue conversations and build connections in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Principal John Higgins shared his thoughts on the evening, saying:
“It’s always a pleasure to welcome our families into school. Events like this strengthen the partnership between home and school, and ensure our students feel supported both academically and personally. We’re proud of the strong sense of community we’re building here at Oulton Academy.”
With a similar number of families expected to attend next week’s session for forms 7.5 to 7.8, the academy looks forward to continuing these valuable conversations and reinforcing the shared commitment to every child’s success.
