Oulton Academy Students Gain Nursery Experience
Students from Years 10 and 11 at Oulton Academy recently had the exciting opportunity to visit Banana Moon Nursery, a highly regarded childcare provider in Rothwell, rated Outstanding by Ofsted. Catering for children aged 3 months to 5 years, Banana Moon Nursery provided the perfect environment for GCSE Childcare students to observe and learn about the development and responses of young children.
The visit was a key part of the students' coursework, which involves planning activities for young children. While at the nursery, the students observed toddlers at play and carefully noted their responses and interactions. These observations will play a vital role in shaping the students’ understanding of early years development and assist them in creating meaningful activities as part of their studies.
The students were enthusiastic about the experience, describing it as eye-opening and enjoyable. For many, it confirmed their interest in pursuing careers in childcare or nursery education. "Seeing the children interact in such a dynamic environment has been so inspiring," said one student.
Oulton Academy extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Banana Moon Nursery for their warm welcome and for providing such a valuable opportunity. This visit offered students a unique chance to see a professional childcare setting in action, enriching their understanding of the field and laying the foundation for their future aspirations.
