Empowering Year 11: English Department Provides Free Textbooks and Revision Guides to Every Student
In a powerful demonstration of our commitment to student success, the English Department at Oulton Academy has supplied seven essential textbooks and revision guides to every Year 11 student — completely free of charge.
This initiative is part of our ongoing mission to remove financial barriers to learning and ensure that every student has the tools they need to thrive in their GCSE English studies. By equipping students with high-quality resources, we’re not only supporting academic achievement but also reinforcing our belief that every learner deserves equal access to opportunity.
Principal John Higgins commented,
“This is about more than just books — it’s about belief. We believe in our students, and we’re investing in their futures. Every young person deserves the chance to succeed, and we’re proud to stand behind them.”
The resources include a mix of literature texts, exam practice guides, and targeted revision materials, all carefully selected to support students in both English Language and English Literature. Teachers will also be integrating these materials into lessons, homework, and revision sessions to maximise their impact.
This move reflects Oulton Academy’s wider commitment to personal development and educational equity, ensuring that no student is held back by the cost of learning materials.
We’re proud to stand behind our students — and proud to help pave the way for their success.
