Students from Oulton Academy recently embarked on an inspiring professional journey, attending the first of three scheduled work experience sessions at the prestigious Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Hospitality

The day began with an insightful career talk featuring a diverse panel of staff members. Students gained first-hand knowledge about the inner workings of a luxury hotel from professionals across various departments, including events management, reception, and catering. The group even had the unique opportunity to hear from the General Manager, who shared valuable advice on leadership and the hospitality industry.

Following the discussion, students were treated to a comprehensive site tour, exploring areas of the estate rarely seen by the public. Highlights of the tour included:

• The high-pressure environment "behind the scenes" in the professional kitchens
• The sophisticated restaurants and golf course grounds

Looking Ahead: The Great Oulton Cook-Off

The partnership continues soon with the second session, which will be hosted on-site at Oulton Academy. During this follow-up, students will put their culinary inspiration to the test in a competitive cooking competition judged by industry standards.
