From Logistics to LEGO: Year 10 Business Students Take on the ASDA Project
Our Year 10 Business students recently stepped into the fast-paced world of retail and supply chains during their latest session of the ASDA Project. It was a day filled with high-stakes challenges, industry insights, and even a few sweet rewards!
Winning Starts Early
The energy was high from the get-go as students kicked off the day with a series of competitive warm-up games. Our Oulton entrepreneurs showed off their quick thinking, walking away with a haul of chocolate eggs as prizes for their efforts.
The Logistics Puzzle
With the treats secured, it was time to get down to business. The group dived into the complex world of logistics, exploring the "behind-the-scenes" magic required to get products from a warehouse to a shelf on time and in perfect condition. They were joined by Logistics Management professionals, who shared the realities of keeping a national supply chain moving. Students took the opportunity to grill the experts on everything from daily challenges to career progression.
Sustainability on the Road
The highlight for many was heading outside to see a working ASDA delivery truck up close. The driver gave the group a guided tour of the vehicle, highlighting the impressive environmental upgrades ASDA has implemented. From fuel efficiency to emissions tracking, the students learned how the fleet is evolving to be as eco-friendly as possible.
Building the Future
Back in the workshop, the focus shifted to the students' own product designs. Innovation was in the air—especially from one talented student who impressed everyone by bringing in custom LEGO pieces she had engineered and built at home to enhance her team's project.
The Grand Finale Awaits
As the session wrapped up, the excitement for the upcoming Project Final was clear. The teams are now putting the finishing touches on their products and can’t wait to showcase their hard work to the judges.
A huge thank you to the team at ASDA for a brilliant day of learning!
