Record-Breaking Year 5/6 Open Evening at Oulton Academy
Oulton Academy was delighted to welcome a record number of prospective students and families to this year's Year 5/6 Open Evening, with more than 1,600 visitors attending across the evening.
The incredible turnout created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the academy. With the car park at capacity and departments bustling with activity, visitors experienced first-hand the vibrant and ambitious community that makes Oulton Academy the school of choice for so many local families.
Families were able to explore every area of the academy, meet staff and students, and take part in a range of engaging activities designed to showcase learning across the curriculum. Every department put on an outstanding display, bringing subjects to life and ensuring that both children and parents left feeling excited about the opportunities available at Oulton Academy.
A particular highlight of the evening was the presence of Willmott Dixon, who were on site to share designs and plans for the academy's new build project. With work due to begin in the coming days, families had the opportunity to see what the future holds for the academy and learn more about the significant investment that will transform the site over the next 18 months.

The Careers team were also on hand, demonstrating how Oulton Academy supports students in developing aspirations and planning for their futures from the very start of their secondary school journey. Through a range of activities and discussions, families gained an insight into how the academy prepares young people for success beyond the classroom.
Principal John Higgins spoke of the excitement surrounding the academy and the opportunities ahead:
"There is a real sense of momentum at Oulton Academy. To see over 1,600 visitors through our doors is a fantastic endorsement of the work taking place across the school. We are incredibly proud of the improvements we have made, particularly the continued rise in exam outcomes, and with our brand-new school building now becoming a reality, the future has never looked brighter. The next 18 months will be transformational for our academy, and we are excited to welcome the next generation of students and families as part of that journey."
