Attendance Matters!

In assemblies last week, the Attendance team led by Mr Carolan and Miss Kemp focused on attendance and the importance of attendance throughout life. This assembly was fun and engaging. Throughout our interactive assembly Miss Kemp asked questions surrounding You Tubers and how this could relate to attendance in school. Mr Carolan and Miss Kemp then played a game with a beach ball and the chance to win prizes. Please ask your children about this assembly, I’m sure they will have lots to tell you. Please see photos.

Academy Development Targets

Our aim as an academy is to ensure attendance is in line or above national average. We are fully aware of the current circumstances we are facing, however please be assured there is plenty of support available to all our families and students within Oulton Academy.

We also look to reduce the persistent absence (PA 90%) to be in line or better than national average. All relevant members of your child’s support network in the academy are fully aware of which students at risk of PA and are having the open communications with them to help improve their attendance.

 

Attendance Initiatives

Oulton Academy has many attendance initiatives during the year.

Throughout this half term there are various initiatives taking place to encourage all students to attend school.

  • Students with 100% attendance during the first three weeks will go into a prize draw to win Amazon vouchers to use as they wish
  • ‘The Wheel’ returned this week, where students with 100% attendance during the previous week can participate in the activity and be in with a chance to win certain prizes. When will it return??
  • A form challenge will begin next week as part of improving attendance across the academy.
  • The Oulton Festival is in full swing with students who have 100% attendance for that week will receive a sticker in their planner. 18 stickers will enable your child to attend!

Please note: Students with medical or exceptional circumstances are still apart of all challenges at Oulton Academy.

Attendance is at the forefront of what we are at Oulton Academy. We do encourage your child to attend school every day, be on time and ready to learn and be proactive.
